Summary, etc. Successful or healthy aging is a worldwide concept in gerontology that older people can live healthy and can be economic contributors as well. Academic emeritus continue to be creative, grow, learn, have a network of friends, family and share their experience in teaching, scientific research and community services. Gerntological health nurse plays a vital role in promoting elderly health and wellbeing by considering a holistic view of bio-psycho social health predictors that contribute to successful aging. Aim: to assess predicators of successful aging among Cairo University academic emeritus. A Convenience Sample of 100 academic emeritus were selected. Setting: the study was conducted in 4 health sciences sector faculties at Cairo University. An exploratory descriptive research design was utilized. Tool: A structured successful aging questionnaire was developed by the investigator & included 3 parts (personal characteristics, assessment of successful aging predicators such as physical health, mental/ cognitive wellbeing, psychological well -being and social engagement, questions about what contributes to successful aging. Results revealed that, the majority of academic emeritus were physically independent, adopted healthy lifestyle, maintained high resilience, the majority with no depression or cognitive failure and with social support networks. Regression analysis showed that age and total scores of successful aging predictors were highly significantly associated (p= 0.000). Conclusion: physical independence, lifestyle, cognition, resilience, no depression and social network contribute to successful aging. Recommendations: increase awareness of elderly about predicators of successful aging; through health education programs, replication the study on a nationwide large scale project and to offer lifelong learning programs for elderly and the public
