Summary, etc. Objective: Statin-induced myopathy is the most common adverse effect of statins. It is a progressive autoimmune myopathy that persists despite drug discontinuation. Bee venom provides a potential means of reducing excessive immune response and sets a new alternative for control of inflammatory reaction. This study aimed at clarification of the role of bee venom in control or prevention of statin-induced myopathy using quantitative electromyography (QEMG) Methods: The present study was carried out on female 30 rats, randomly assigned into 3 groups: Control group, Statin group which received simvastatin 88 mg/kg/day for 2 weeks, and Venom group which was exposed to actual bee sting every other day for 2 weeks concurrent with simvastatin administration. QEMG of the quadriceps femoris and gastrocnemius muscles was performed. Measurements of serum CK and cholesterol levels and in addition to assessment of gastrocnemius muscle contractility were done
