| Summary, etc. | Background: Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) is a widely distributed bacterial pathogen that acts bymodulation of gastrointestinal hormone secretion and also by affecting the gastrointestinal motility. Aim of the work: The association between H.pylori infection and functional dyspepsia can be detected by measuring changes in pyloric contractility, alterations in plasma ghrelin and CCK levels and the possible mediating role of miRNA-1 in gastric motility changes. Methods: fourty male albino rats were divided into 4 groups:group I: control rats. The remaining rats were pretreated with streptomycin for 3 consecutive days then group II: only sterile brucella broth was given orally for 3 days , group III: rats were inoculated with H. pylori suspension (5 {u00D7}108 - 5{u00D7} 1010) for 3 days, group IV: rats received H.pylori suspension for 3 days then the standard H. pylori infection triple therapy was given twice orally for 14 days. Twenty one days later, blood samples were withdrawn using a capillary tube from retro orbital venous plexus for assessment of secreted hormones (ghrelin, CCK). After that ,the animals were killed by cervical dislocation; a midline incision was made, with care taken not to damage internal organs, thier stomachs were excised. Pyloric smooth muscle contractility was assessed, then samples from the organs were put in formalin for histological analysis and the other samples were harvested for chemical analyses of urease activity and miR-1 expression |
