| Summary, etc. | Teamwork and communication are critical to the safe delivery of care. The International Joint Commission (2011) declared that research has found that 70% of all medical errors can be attributed to breakdowns in healthcare team interactions. This study aimed at investigating the effect of interdisciplinary team work on patient safety management through using 6 sigma model. Quasi-experimental design was utilized to conduct the current study. This study conducted at El Manial Specialized Hospital which is affiliated to Cairo University. The study sample included all unit staff (n=22). Five tools were used for data collection:-1st tool was Team perception questionnaire (T-TPQ), 2nd was Team performance observational checklist (T-TPO), 3rd was Pareto table, 4th was the cause effect diagram and the 5th was Multi voting technique. The study was conducted on five phases based on Six Sigma model: preliminary, define, measure, analysis, and improvement phases. The study results revealed that there was insignificant difference between unit staff's perception (T- TPQ) regarding pre and post program implementation, on the other hand the total mean scores of unit staff's observation showed significant improvement between pre and post program implementation (T=2.15, P=0.035*) |
