Background: Most of children are suffering from malnutrition with its different consequences which affects their normal growth and development. The period of 6-24months of age is one of the most crucial time periods in the growth of the infant. Timely, adequate and appropriate complementary feeding in addition to breast feeding is needed to ensure infants and children normal growth and development. Mothers{u2019} knowledge, attitude and feeding practices directly affect their children growth and development. Aim of work: This study aimed to improve the nutritional status, growth & development, health and survival of Egyptian infants and young children through optimum feeding. Materials and methods: This is a prospective cohort interventional study that included 137 mother-child pairs (6-24 months) who attended the medical centre (PHC) centre at Kafr AL sheikh city. A designed questionnaire was used to gather data about sociodemographic characteristics, nutritional knowledge and feeding practices of mothers. Both anthropometric measurements (namely weight and recumbent length) and Haemoglobin level were measured at baseline and after 6 months |
