Summary, etc. |
Background: Short term blood pressure variability is monitoring of blood pressure variables as (mean SBP variability (SD) , mean DBP variability (SD), blood pressure load ,pulse pressure , systolic and diastolic blood pressure dipping) during 24 hours (waking and sleeping time) by ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. objective: detecting the correlation between 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure variability with cardiovascular morbidity among the elderly methods: Prospective cohort study. We studied 103 patients with age more than 65 years old, full clinical , laboratory data and Twenty four hour AMBPM was performed measuring of blood pressure variables as (mean SBP variability (SD) , mean DBP variability (SD), blood pressure load ,pulse pressure, systolic and diastolic blood pressure dipping) during 24 hours (waking and sleeping time) results: The total Numbers of the patients during the study period were 115 patients but only 103 patients completed the study as 12 patients had device intolerance. The mean age was 65 ±5 .Female patients represented 38% and male patients were 62% of total number of the patients (75%)were diabetic, (85.4%) were hypertensive,(63%)were dyslipidemic, (70%) had coronary artery disease (CAD) but 44% of patients with CAD diagnosed as myocardial infarction (MI), (41.7%) had Cerebrovascular Insufficiency ( CVI) , (49.5%) had symptoms and signs of heart failure , (50.2%) suffered from chronic kidney disease (CKD) |
