520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. Background: Laparoscopic surgery (LS) is the standard technique for an increasing number of operations. Some of the major benefits compared to open surgery include: minimized risk of infection, reduced postoperative pain, shorter rehabilitation time, and better cosmetic results. Box trainers (BTs) and virtual reality (VR) simulators are the two main training modalities employed in hospitals and clinical training centers for laparoscopic skills acquisition and development. A number of studies have demonstrated that training with such devices improves the required laparoscopic skills and that these skills are transferable to the operating room. Aim of this study : To evaluate the proper sequence of Pelvic trainer and VR simulator training in order to improve gynecological laparoscopic skills. Patients and methods: This study was carried out at Kasr Al Ainy Obstetrics and Gynecology department, Cairo University on 20 residents who had little or no laparoscopic skill from October 2020 to April 2021.The participants were subdivided into 2 equal groups. Group A began their training on a pelvic trainer and were assessed using a checklist, then they were trained on a VR simulator and were assessed using Electronic auto assessment via the simulator, whereas Group B began their training on a VR simulator and were assessed using Electronic auto assessment via the simulator, then they were trained on pelvic trainers and were assessed using a checklist. Result: on comparing results of assessment of pelvic trainer skills between the 2 trained groups, there was no statistical difference in camera navigation, cutting pattern, peg transfer and running stitches (P values 0.646, 0.341, 0.179, 0.939 respectively), and on comparing results of assessment of VR simulator skills between the 2 trained groups, there was no statistical difference in camera navigation, cutting pattern, peg transfer and running stitches (P values 0.79, 0.3, 0.33, 0.06 respectively)
