Summary, etc. | The first part of this thesis aims to develop and optimize the formulation of a radiation-sensitive material of silver nitrate in gelatin, a capping agent, to prepare radiochromic gel dosimeters suitable for dosimetry applications up to 100 Gy. Gamma radiation-induced Ag nanoparticles (NPs) formation in silver nitrate gel dosimeter at different silver nitrate concentration, gelatin %, isopropanol % and pH was investigated. The absorption spectrum of the Þ-irradiated gel dosimeter exhibited a Surface Plasmon Resonance band (SPR) at a wavelength of 450 nm nm indicating AgNPs formation upon Þ-irradiation.The intensity of this peak grows linearly with increasing absorbed doses up to 100 Gy. The sensitivity of radiation increases with the increase of Ag⁺ ion concentrations and the decrease of gelatin content. In addition, using isopropanol enhanced the development of AgNPs in the gel dosimeter.
