| Summary, etc. | Aim: This cross-sectional study was assess the prevalence of oral manifestations in patients with lupus erythematosus in a sample of Egyptian population (patients attending the in Internal Medicine department, rheumatology clinic in EL Qasr EL Ainy hospital - Cairo University), aiming that this study can serve as a baseline for studies with a further goal of finding ways to improve oral health and increase awareness of lupus erythematosus disease in Egypt. b. Methodology: This descriptive study was performed on 189 patients by observation, clinical examination, completing questionnaire and also evaluating patients{u2019} medical records. The Clinical examination of the oral manifestation was recorded according to WHO guide for Physical examination of the oral cavity (Ramadas, K., 2008.) . Oral lesions were examined clinically and classified according their morphologic aspects and localization. The investigator assessed the location of any oral lesion or abnormality according to The American Dental Association Practical Guide to Soft Tissue Oral Disease, Second Edition. (Michael A.et al. 2018). c. Results: The results showed that The prevalence of oral lesion in LE patients with was 55.6% (105/189 patients). There was no statistically significant association between prevalence of oral lesion and gender d. Conclusions: The prevalence of oral lesion in LE patients with was 55.6%. The present study emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis of oral lesions to recognize patients with LE, as well as oral hygiene implementation and treatment to improve patients{u2019} nutritional state and healthrelated quality of life |
