Summary: The thesis is a study in descriptive linguistics; it examines the morphology of verbs in fragments of Sappho. The introduction reviews the concept of morphological study. The chapters examine the literary and linguistic characteristics of Sappho’s poetry in terms of meters, poetic imagery, and dialect. They also study primary tenses such as the present simple, the future simple, and the present perfect and secondary tenses such as the present continuous, the past simple, and the past perfect.
