تهدف هذه الدراسة إلي عرض أهمية المعرفات الرقمية بالنسبة لكل من الباحثين ومؤسسات البحث العلمي، ومؤسسات تمويل الأبحاث والمفهرسين وكيفة الاستفادة منها، وكيفية تطبيقها، وخصائصها، ومكوناتها، والتحديات التي واجهت محاولات إنشاء معرف رقمي، وكذلك المميزات التي أضافتها لمجتمع البحث العلمي مع التركيز على المعرف الرقمي ORCID، وذلك باستخدام المنهح الوصفي، واعتمادا على الأسلوب المسحي في وصف الموضوع وخصائصه وأهميته، وتحليل الأبعاد المختلفة له، وبيان العلاقات بين هذه الأبعاد والارتباطات فيما بينها، فضلا عن المقارنة بينها من خلال استخدام قائمة المراجعة كأداة لجمع البيانات، وعرض التجارب الدولية التي قامت بتطبيق المعرفات الرقمية للباحثين وأنماط الإفادة منها، وقدمت الدراسة مقارنة علمية بين المعرفات الرقمية للباحثين للخروج بمؤشرات عن كل معرف رقمي، كما نتجت عن هذه الدراسة خطة لتطبيق المعرف الرقمي أوركيد ORCID في مؤسسات البحث العلمي في مصر، وأوصت الدراسة بدور أمناء المكتبات وبخاصة المشتغلين بالعمليات الفنية بضرورة تطوير التسجيلات الببليوجرافية، وإضافة الحقول الخاصة بالمعرفات الرقمية، وذلك لإثراء التسجيلة الببليوجرافية، وتسهيل الحصول على ملفات استنادية دقيقة للمؤلفين.

This study aims to present the importance of digital identifiers for the researchers whether researchers, scientific research institutions, research funding institutions or indexers and how to benefit from them, how to apply them.
Their characteristics, components and the challenges that faced the attempts to create a digital identifier as well as the advantages they added to the scientific research community with focusing on the ORCID digital identifier using the survey method to describe the subject , its characteristics and importance also analyze its different sides and indicate the correlations between these sides , as well as the comparison between them through the use of the checklist as a tool for data collection.
The last chapter shows examples of international trials for providing digital identifiers to researchers and the different ways of benefiting from them, and the study presented a scientific comparison between each digital identifiers for researchers to come up with indicators for each digital identifier and those who work in technical operations that need to develop bibliographic records and add fields for digital identifiers in order to enrich the Bibliographic record and facilitate access to accurate authority files for authors.
