سعت الدراسة إلى هدف رئيسي وهو بيان مدى تأثير الهجرة غير الشرعية من الشرق الأوسط إلى أوروبا، من خلال التعرف على التداعيات الأمنية وغير الأمنية لهذه الظاهرة على الأمن الإقليمي، وكذلك تهتم الدراسة بطرح السياسات الدولية وخصوصًا الأوروبية في مواجهة آثار الهجرة غير الشرعية وتقييم هذه السياسات على النحو الذي يعزز من قدرات الدول في مواجهة هذه الظاهرة خصوصًا أن الدول الأوروبية أصبحت هي الأكثر تأثرًا بهذه الظاهرة بحكم خروج المهاجريين إليها بحثًا عن فرص معيشية وهربًا من الدول النامية التي تعاني من أزمات مثل الفقر وغيره.
استخدمت الدراسة مناهج بحثية فعالة منها على سبيل المثال المنهج البنائي الذي عمل الباحث على الاستفادة منها من خلال دراسة ملامح البيئة الاقليمية في المنطقة محل الدراسة، كذلك الاستفادة من هذا المنهج في تقييم فاعلية السياسات الأوروبية في مواجهة ظاهرة الهجرة غير الشرعية.
وقد خرجت الدراسة بنتائج لعل من أهمها، إن غالبية المشروعات الأوروبية التي تم طرحها لمكافحة الهجرة غير الشرعية تقوم على الحلول الأمنية مع إهمال الأسباب والظروف المحيطة بموضوع الهجرة غير الشرعية، ومن ناحية أخري فإن هذا النوع من الحلول مكلف بالفعل، فقد رأينا أن هناك اتفاقيات ثنائية بين دول مثل إيطاليا وليبيا وأخري بين الاتحاد الأوروبي ككل، ويدفع الاتحاد بموجبها الملايين من أجل مشروعات مثل بناء معسكرات الاحتجاز وطائرات المراقبة ورفع قدرات الحراسة على الحدود، فالاتحاد الأوروبي ينفق بالفعل أموالًا طائلة ولكن في الطريق الخطأ.

The study sought a key objective, namely, to demonstrate the impact of illegal migration from the Middle East to Europe, By identifying the security and non-security implications of this phenomenon for regional security, The study also focuses on international and, in particular, European policies in the face of the effects of illegal migration and evaluates these policies in a way that enhances countries' capacities to confront this phenomenon especially since European countries are most affected by this phenomenon due to migrants moving out in search of livelihood opportunities and fleeing developing countries experiencing crises such as poverty and others.
The study used effective research approaches, for example, the constructive approach that the researcher worked to utilize by studying the features of the regional environment in the region under consideration, as well as the use of this approach in assessing the effectiveness of European policies in the face of the phenomenon of illegal migration.
The study has produced results, perhaps the most important of which is that most of the European projects that have been put forward to combat illegal migration are based on security solutions while neglecting the reasons and circumstances surrounding illegal migration. On the other hand, this kind of solution is expensive. In our view, there are bilateral agreements between countries such as Italy, Libya and others between the European Union as a whole, The Federation pays millions for projects such as the construction of detention camps and surveillance aircraft and the upgrading of border guard capabilities, The European Union is already spending big money but the wrong way.
