Summary: برزت المشكلة البحثية في ضعف كفاءة االغلفة الخارجية في المباني القائمة مؤثرة بذلك على معدل استهالك الطاقة، فقد أصبحت تشارك بالنسبة االكبر من إجمالي استهالك الطاقة. ويهدف البحث الى طرح اسلوب لتصنيف تقنيات رفع كفاءة الغالف الخارجي يعتمد فيه على جانبين وهم الحفاظ على الطاقة وانتاج الطاقة المتجددة، و توضيح أثرهم في خفض معدل استهالك الطاقة. وتقوم منهجية الدراسة على اجراء الدراسات النظرية والتحليلية لتوضيح مشاكل استهالك الطاقة في المباني القائمة وأهمية مساهمة الغالف الخارجي في توفيرها و معرفة اهم التقنيات التي ترفع من كفاءة الغالف الخارجي، ومن ثم الدراسة التطبيقية الخاصة بعرض الحالة الدراسية الحد المباني السكنية القائمة بمصر وعمل محاكاة لها لتحديد نسب الوفر في الطاقة. وقد توصل البحث الى مجموعة من النتائج التي تؤكد مدى ترابط توفير استهالك الطاقة في المباني القائمة برفع كفاءة غالفها الخارجي من خالل مجموعة من التقنيات التي يمكن ان تتكامل مع الغالف الخارجي في محاولة للحفاظ على الطاقة وانتاج طاقة متجددةSummary: Energy consumption in existing buildings has increased significantly, and has become the largest share of total energy consumption and carbon emissions globally in recent times. However, it represents the largest proportion of the current establishments compared to the new ones. It is a tangible reality that needs more attention, study and unconventional solutions and it has opened up areas for research in finding strategies to reduce energy consumption in existing buildings to get out of this crisis. The building is considered a system that includes several elements and integrated systems, each of which affects the other, and one of the most important of these elements is the outer envelope of the building. The importance of the building envelope is that it is the first line of defense to protect the building from surrounding conditions, and thus focus on treating the existing building envelopes and working to raise their efficiency is one of the main solutions affecting energy consumption rates and facing environmental changes. The research problem is represented in the weak efficiency of existing building envelopes and the lack of awareness of their impact on saving energy consumption and its relationship to the energy crisis in Egypt, with a large gap in scientific research to identify strategies for raising the efficiency of the outer envelope. Accordingly, the thesis aims to create a systematic framework for classifying strategies for raising the efficiency of the outer envelope in existing buildings in Egypt using some technological techniques that combine both energy conservation strategies and renewable energy production, and to show the results of its impact on energy consumption, which provides an opportunity to reduce energy consumption rates and carbon emissions. The thesis deals with three main studies, including the theoretical study, through the use of the monitoring method for the aggravation of the global and local energy crisis in existing buildings, highlighting the role of the building’s outer envelope in saving energy, and identifying technological techniques that help in raising the efficiency of the building envelope that combines each of the energy conservation strategies and renewable energy production that can be implemented to save energy consumption in existing buildings. And then presenting the comprehensive analytical study related to raising the efficiency of the building envelope in some of the previous projects and studies and came up with conclusions that resulted in a change in the rates of energy consumption, and emphasizing the achievement of the building envelope desired roles by using some technological techniques that raise its efficiency, and thus reaching a theoretical framework methodology for raising the efficiency of the building envelope of existing buildings, which was deduced from previous studies. The feasibility of this theoretical framework is verified in the applied study by applying it to one of the existing residential buildings in Egypt. The study is based on evaluating the energy performance of the building and developing proposals and alternatives to solutions and techniques necessary to raise the efficiency of the building envelope, by simulating the building using the Design Builder simulation program to obtain the expected energy and carbon savings. The thesis ends with a set of results that emphasize the interdependence of saving energy consumption in existing buildings with raising the efficiency of their outer envelope through a set of techniques that can be integrated with the outer envelope in an attempt to conserve energy and produce renewable energy.
