تهدف الدراسة إلى التعرف على الأصول الفكرية والكفاءة الإمبريقية للنظريات الوسطى في علم الاجتماع، في إطار هدف الدراسة وهو الكشف عن ظروف نشأتها، وإبراز أسسها النظرية والمنهجية بالتطبيق على إحدى النظريات في المجتمع المصري وهي نظرية ” الهلع الأخلاقي” أحوال الشباب إنموذجًا بالتطبيق على المنهج الكمي والكيفي. ولذلك تبنت الدراسةالمنهج التحليلي التاريخي، والمنهج الارتباطي لعلم الاجتماع المعرفي، والمنهج التحليلي النقدي الانعكاسي (التأملي)، وتوصلت نتائج الدراسة إلي أنه يمكن قياس النظريات متوسطة المدي كميًا وكيفيًا، من خلال الحصول على التوليفات المثلي لقياس الأبعاد وتقدير نموذج المقياس، ودليل المقابلة المتعمقة.

The study aims to identify the intellectual origins and empirical competence of the middle range theory, within the framework of the study’s goal, which is to reveal the conditions of their inception and to highlight their theoretical and methodological foundations by applying one of the theories in Egyptian society, which is the theory of “moral panic” the conditions of young people as a model by applying the quantitative and qualitative approach.
Therefore, the study assumed the historical analytical approach, the correlational approach of cognitive sociology, and the reflexive critical analytical method. The results of the study concluded that the medium-range theories can be estimated quantitatively and qualitatively, by obtaining the optimal combinations of estimating dimensions, calculating the scale model, and the in-depth interview guide.
