سعت الدراسة لتحقيق هدف رئيسي يتمثل في تحديد مدي تأثير الدولة الفاشلة على أمن واستقرار دول الجوار بالتطبيق على الأزمة الليبية وتداعياتها على الأمن القومي المصري حيث شهد المجتمع الدولي على مدار السنوات الماضية ظاهرة فشل الدولة والتي تتسم بتفكك الهياكل الحكومية المرتبطة بالصراعات المسلحة الداخلية فيصبح فشل الدولة جليًا عندما يتصاعد العنف ويصل إلى حرب داخلية شاملة وتشهد مستويات المعيشة تدهورًا كبيًرا وتضعف البنية الأساسية للحياة .
وقد استخدمت الدراسة عدة مناهج بحثية منها منهج تحليل النظم من أجل تدفق المعلومات حول نتائج القرارات والسياسات المتبعة ومدى فاعليتها وذلك فيما يتعلق بتداعيات "الدولة الفاشلة" على أمن واستقرار دول الجوار وخصوصًا مصر .
وخرجت الدراسة بنتائج من أهمها أن الأوضاع الأمنية والسياسية في الدولة الفاشلة فرصة للقوي الكبري للتدخل في الشؤون الداخلية لتحقيق مصالحها، وينتج عن الدولة الفاشلة تداعيات عدة تؤثر في سياسات الدول المجاورة ولعل أبرز هذه التداعيات إنتشار الإرهاب وإنتشار ظاهرة الهجرة غير الشرعية، وتعد الأزمة الليبية واحدة من أهم القضايا التي أثارت الاهتمام الدولي والإقليمي وهناك العديد من التداعيات على المستوى الأمني والسياسي لتحول ليبيا لدولة فاشلة على دول الجوار الإقليمي، خاصة في ظل إرتفاع وتيرة الصراعات والإنقسامات الداخلية وترتب على الأوضاع في ليبيا العديد من التداعيات التي أصبحت بمثابة تهديد للأمن القومي المصري خاصة مع أزدياد التهديدات الأمنية التي تنتقل عبر الحدود بين مصر وليبيا .

The study sought to achieve the main objective of determining the extent of the impact of the failed State on the security and stability of neighbouring countries by applying to the Libyan crisis and its implications for Egypt's national security State failure, where over the past years the international community has witnessed the phenomenon of State failure characterized by the disintegration of government structures associated with internal armed conflicts, State failure becomes evident when violence escalates and reaches a full-scale internal war, living standards deteriorate dramatically and life's infrastructure is weakened.
The study used several research approaches, including the system analysis methodology, for the flow of information on the results and effectiveness of decisions and policies in relation to the implications of the "failed State" for the security and stability of neighbouring States, particularly Egypt.
One of the main findings of the study is that the security and political situation in the failed State is an opportunity for the great power to interfere in internal affairs in order to achieve its interests. The failed State has several implications for the policies of neighbouring States. Perhaps the most significant of these is the spread of terrorism and the phenomenon of illegal migration, The Libyan crisis is one of the most important issues that has attracted international and regional attention and there are many repercussions on the security and political level of Libya's transformation into a failed State on regional neighbouring States, Especially given the high frequency of internal conflicts and divisions, the situation in Libya has had many repercussions, which have become a threat to Egypt's national security, especially as security threats across the border between Egypt and Libya increase
