Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.)-Cairo University, 2022. Summary: includes the synthesis of two mono and two bis chromotropic acid (CTA) azo dyes from coupling between CTA and sulfadimidine or sulfaguanidine. The four dyes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV- Vis and 1H-NMR spectroscopy. The dissociation constants of the four dyes were determined spectrophotometrically. The second part includes studying interaction between the four CTA azo dyes with Th(IV) metal ions. The reaction conditions were optimized and the stoichiometric ratios of the four complexes were determined. The molar absorptivity(ε) of the four dyes were 1.34×104, 3.35×103, 7.23×103, and 8.33×103 L mol-1 cm-1, respectively.
