تناولت هذه الدراسة بناء المصطلحات فى اللغة السواحيلية المعاصرة باستخدام المنهج الوصفى. قُسِمت الدراسة إلى مقدمة وثلاثة فصول وخاتمة. تناول الفصل الأول المصطلح وعلم المصطلح. وينقسم هذا الفصل إلى ثلاثة مباحث، تناول المبحث الأول المصطلح مفهومه وأنواعه، وتناول المبحث الثانى علم المصطلح مفهومه ومجالاته واهتماماته، وتناول المبحث الثالث المصطلح فى اللغة السواحيلية. وتناول الفصل الثانى بناء المصطلحات فى اللغة السواحيلية. وينقسم هذا الفصل إلى ستة مباحث، تناول المبحث الأول الاشتقاق، وتناول المبحث الثانى التركيب، وتناول المبحث الثالث الاقتراض، وتناول المبحث الرابع الاختصار، وتناول المبحث الخامس التكرار، وتناول المبحث السادس الترجمة. وعرض الفصل الثالث والأخير للدراسة الدلالية للمصطلحات محل الدراسة. وينقسم هذا الفصل إلى مبحثين، تناول المبحث الأول العلاقات الدلالية القائمة بين المصطلحات ومفاهيمها، وتناول المبحث الثانى المجالات الدلالية للمصطلحات محل الدراسة.

خلصت الدراسة إلى عدد من النتائج من أبرزها أن أساليب بناء المصطلحات فى اللغة السواحيلية وتحديدًا (المصطلحات: السياسية والعسكرية والقانونية والطبية والرياضية) يمكن أن تتلخص فى ستة أساليب: الأول: الاشتقاق، والثانى: التركيب، والثالث: الاقتراض، والرابع: الاختصار، والخامس: التكرار، والسادس: الترجمة. ثمة ثلاث علاقات دلالية رئيسة بين المصطلحات ومفاهيمها: الأولى: علاقة أحادية الدلالة (أحادية التسمية)، والثانية: علاقة الترادف، والثالثة: علاقة الاشتراك اللفظى.

This Study deals with terminological construction in contemporary swahili by using a descriptive approach. The study was divided into an introduction, three chapters and a conclusion. The first chapter dealt with term and terminology. This chapter is divided into three sections, the first section dealt with term: its definition and types, the second section dealt with terminology: its definition, fields, and interests, and the third section dealt with term in the swahili language. The second chapter dealt with terminological construction in the swahili language. This chapter is divided into six sections, the first section dealt with the derivation, the second section dealt with the compound, the third section dealt with the borrowing, the fourth section dealt with the abbreviation, the fifth section dealt with the reduplication, and the sixth section dealt with the translation. The third and final chapter presented the semantic study of the terminologies of this study. This chapter is divided into two sections, the first section dealt with the semantic relations that are between the terminologies and their definitions, the second section dealt with the semantic fields of the terminologies of this study.
The study concluded with many results, most notably that the methods of terminological construction in the swahili language especially (political, military, legal, medical and sports terminologies) can be summarized in six methods: the first method is the derivation, the second method is the compound, the third method is the borrowing, the fourth method is the abbreviation, the fifth method is the reduplication, and the sixth method is the translation. There are three main semantic relations between the terminologiees and their definitions, the first main semantic relation is the relation that which has one meaning, the second main semantic relation is the relation of synonymy, and the third main semantic relation is the relation of antonymy.
