لقد أصبح فكر ومفهوم الزراعة الحضرية من أهم المداخل التي يمكن أن تساهم في استدامة المدن من حيث القدرة على تفعيل أبعاد العدالة والجمال والإبداع والمدن الخضراء وتعزيز الاتصال الشخصي والمجتمعي وتحقيق أفضل وأقصى تنوعا وظيفيا واجتماعيا على مستوى عمران المدن. وتكمن فكره الزراعة الحضرية في القدرة على معالجة ضغوط التحضر والآثار المرتبطة بها مثل زيادة الضغط على النظم الغذائية العالمية ونقص الأمن الغذائي. وتعتبر مشكلة الأمن الغذائي إحدى أهم المشاكل التي تعاني منها معظم دول العالم النامي وكذلك مصر، هذا بالإضافة للنقص الشديد في المساحات الخضراء بما يؤثر بالسلب أيضا على الصحة العامة للإنسان المصري والقدرة على العمل والإنتاج والحياة بوجه عام. ويأتي فكر الزراعة الحضرية في دراسة كيفية تحويل جميع الفراغات والمساحات المتاحة داخل كتلة العمران إلى مناطق خضراء بفكر ومفهوم الزراعة الحضرية بحيث تساهم في تحقيق أهداف الإنتاجية والأمن الغذائي إلى جانب مساهمتها في زيادة نصيب الفرد من الرقعة الخضراء داخل الحيز العمراني للمدن.

وبناء عليه فإن البحث يهدف إلى دراسة فكر ومفهوم الزراعة الحضرية وكيفية تفعيلها ضمن محددات وتحديات العمران المصري الحالي، حيث يقوم البحث من خلال منهج تحليلي للأدبيات والتجارب رصد أهم أنماط وأنواع الزراعة الحضرية ثم من خلال دراسة تحليلية لعدد من التجارب العالمية برصد وفهم المساهمات المحتملة والتحديات التي تواجه الأنماط المختلفة للزراعة الحضرية، بناء عليه ومن خلال منهج استنباطي يخلص البحث إلى إطار مقترح لتفعيل فكر ومفهوم الزراعة الحضارية كمدخل لاستدامة العمراني المصري

The concept of urban agriculture has been regarded lately as one of the most promising approaches for promoting sustainability within the urban context of developing countries. Urban agriculture can carry the answer regarding the ability of introducing justice, beauty, greening, and the best possible social, cultural and functional engagement to our cities. Also, the concept holds great opportunities as an innovative approach for introducing food safety and food production sources for local and developing communities. Egypt as well as most developing countries suffers from the instability of the food production sector, due to agricultural problems. In addition, the country urban regions offer a very low open and green areas per residence, as situation that negatively impact the quality of life of the residence of the Egyptian cities. Urban agriculture can provide the Egyptian urban areas with the required greening and produces more sustainable agriculture and food production systems.

The thesis aims to innovate an approach that has the ability to promote urban agriculture to the context of the Egyptian urban communities. The paper methodology is composed of three parts. The first part is the literature review studying the types and forms of urban agriculture, the second part is the analytical studies where international case studies were analyzed reporting on the pros and challenges for promoting the various types and finally an inductive study is to compose and present the proposed framework for introducing urban agriculture to the Egyptian urban communities.
