Background: Latissimus Dorsi (LD) is a large contributor to
stabilization and control of Gleno-Humeral Joint (GHJ) during overhead
movements and lifting. Impaired muscle activity could cause chronic GHJ
pain, impaired function, limited range of motion and increases risk of injuries
especially among overhead players. Objective: To compare between the effect
of Kinesotape (KT) and the effect of Active Inhibitory Restabilization (AIR)
on LD extensibility and players' performance (free throwing accuracy &
player efficiency). Subjects, Materials and Methods: Ninety male and
female basketball players were included in this study. Their age ranged from
17 to 20 years. Body Mass Index (BMI) ranged from 18.5 to 25 kg/m2. They
were divided randomly into 3 groups, group (A) received KT, group (B)
received AIR & group (C) received Sham tape. Pre and post treatment
assessment of LD extensibility in terms of GHJ overhead flexion test as
measured by Kinovea software& Pressure Biofeedback Unit (PBU) and
different GHJ Active Range of Motions (AROM) (flexion, abduction external
rotation (ER)) using Kinovea software. Players performance in terms of free
throwing accuracy & player efficiency (EFF) were measured by Genius Sports
software and GHJ injury prevention using reported Injury Totals and
Incidences data for two continuous years (2022& 2023). Results: There were
significant increases in all variables (GHJ overhead flexion test, GHJ different
AROM (flexion, abduction and ER) and players' performance (free throwing
accuracy & player EFF) in groups A & B. Non-significant increases in all
variables in group C were detected. All variables were significantly increased
in group B when compared with their corresponding values in group A. The
correlation between LD extensibility and players' performance in group B
showed a moderate positive significant correlation regarding free throwing
accuracy (r= 0.667 & p= 0.001) & a strong positive significant correlation
regarding player EFF (r= 0.725 and p= 0.001). Conclusion: Both KT & AIR
increase LD extensibility. AIR has better effect on extensibility, increases GHJ
different AROM, preventing injuries & enhancing overhead players'
performance.
اشتملت هذه الدراسة على تسعين لاعب ولاعبة كرة سلة، تتراوح أعمارهم بين 17 و20 عامًا، ومؤشر كتلة أجسامهم بين ال 18.5 و25 كجم / م2، تم تقسيمهم عشوائيًا إلى 3 مجموعات، المجموعة (أ) تلقت شريط الكينيزيو اللاصق، المجموعة (ب) تلقت جلسات الاتزان التثبيطي النشط والمجموعة (ج) تلقت شريط الشام اللاصق. تم تقييم اللاعبين قبل وبعد تلقي العلاج من حيث مقدار تمدد العضلة الظهرية العريضة بواسطة برنامج الكينوفيا الإلكتروني وجهاز ثبات ضغط الارتجاع البيولوجي، حيث استخدم كليهما في اختبار الانثناء العلوي لمفصل الكتف ومدى حركة مفصل الكتف في كل من الانثناء، الاختطاف والدوران الخارجي. كما تم تقييم أداء اللاعبين قبل وبعد تلقي العلاج من حيث أداء اللاعبين من حيث دقة الرمي الحر وكفاءة اللاعب باستخدام برنامج جينياس سبورتس الإلكتروني.
