Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) -Cairo University, 2024. Summary: This study was performed at the outpatient clinic of the Medical City Hospital, Iraq. The current study aimed to investigate the possible effects of metformin phonophoresis, plus exercise therapy in terms of pain, mobility, function, and physical performance in KOA patients. Seventy-eight patients with knee osteoarthritis participated in the current study. Patients were divided into Group A received metformin phonophoresis plus selected exercise, Group B received metformin phonophoresis, and Group C received US with neutral non-drug standard coupling gel; their ages ranged from 40 to 65 years. Data obtained from both groups pre-treatment and post-treatment regarding the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), the smartphone inclinometer application, the Western Ontario, and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index (WOMAC index), and the Time Up Go test, were measured pretreatment, after 2 weeks, and after 4 weeks then were statistically analyzed and compared.Summary: أجريت الدراسة علي ثمانية وسبعين مريضاً ممن يعانون من الالتهاب العظمي المفصلي باحدي الرك بتين وفقا لمعايير انتخاب واستبعاد المشاركين من العيادات الخارجيةبمستشفي بغداد التعليمي، ببغداد، العراق؛ يتراوح أعمارهم من 40 -65 عاماً، وتم تقسيمهم عشوائيا لثلاث مجموعات؛ الأولي تلقوا العلاج بالموجات الصوتية الميتفورمين والتمرينات العلاجية ، بينما المجموعة الثانية تلقوا العلاج بالموجات الصوتية الميتفورمين فقط؛ بينما المجموعة الثالثة تلقوا العلاج بالموجات الصوتية غير العلاجية. وتم تقييم المؤشرات الديموجرافية وقياس شدة الألم باستخدام مقياس الألم التناظري، والمدي الحركي للركبة بواسطةتطبيق الهاتف الذكي، ومعدل الإعاقة الوظيفية عبر مؤشر إلتهاب المفاصل لجامعات أونتاريوالغربية وماكماستروأخيراً ومعدل القدرة الجسدية بالخضوع لاختبار القيام والمشي لجميعالمشاركين بالدراسة، وتبعه تحليل إحصائي تفصيلي. إن إضافة جيل الميتفورمين إلي العلاج بالموجات الصوتية قد يعزز من التحسنبمؤشر شدة الألم والمدي الحركي وكذلك معدلات الأداء الوظيفي والقدرة الجسدي ة لمرضيالالتهاب العظمي المفصلي للركبة.
