تهدف الدراسة إلى إلقاء الضوء على نمط من الأنماط الأدبية، وهو الأساطير اليونانية في العصر البيزنطي. وذلك من خلال تحليل بعض كتابات القديس باسيليوس الكبير(Basil the Great) كأحد الآباء الكبادوك المؤثرين بكتاباتهم في تلك الفترة. ويتم هذا التحليل عن طريق التأصيل للأساطير الواردة كنص كامل أو كإشارات في هذه الكتابات، وتثبيتها بالرجوع إلى الأصل لصياغتها عند الكُتاب الأصلين لها مثل: هوميروس(Homer) وهيسيودوس(Hesiod). كما يتم تحليل طرق التوظيف التي اتبعها القديس باسيليوس الكبير ليصل إلى ما يهدف إليه في الرسائل والمقالات التي قدمها. و توضح الدراسة المواقف المختلفة من الأسطورة اليونانية في الأدب اليوناني بين المؤيد والمُعارض لها. وتلقي الضوء أيضًا على الموقف من الأسطورة في العصر البيزنطي بين المؤيد والمُعارض. وتم اختيار القديس باسيليوس ككاتب مؤيد لهذا النمط الأدبي . وتعتمد الدراسة على المنهج الوصفي التحليلي باعتباره المنهج المناسب لتحقيق الهدف من وراء هذا البحث

This study aims to shed light on one of the literary styles. Which is Greek mythology in the Byzantine Age. This is done by analyzing some of the writings of St. Basil the Great as one of the influential Cappadocian Fathers with their writing in that period. This analysis is done by originating the legends contained as a complete text or references in these writing and confirming them by reference to original formulation of them by the original writers, such as, Homer and Hesiod. The employment methods followed by St. Basil the Great are analyzed to reach what he aims for in the letters and articles he presented. The study also explains the different positions of the Greek myth in the Greek literature and the opposition to it. it also sheds light on the position of the myth in the Byzantine age between supporters and opponents. St. Basil was chosen as a writer supporting this literary style, and the study will depend as the appropriate approach for achieving this research objective.
