Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty Of Physical Therapy - Department Of Cardiopulmonary and Geriatrics Disorders Summary: The aim of this study was to compare the effect of a combined aerobic and resistance exercise versus aerobic exercise on glycemic control in diabetic patientsTwenty type 2 diabetic patients (10 male and 10 female) participated in the study , their age ranged from 40 to 55 yearsThey were divided into two equal groupsGroup (A) performed a combined aerobic and resistance exercise , while group (B) performed aerobic exerciseThe program continued for 8 weeks (three sessions per week) HbA1c and BMI were measured at the beginning and after the exercise program for both groupsSignificant reduction in HbA1c was observed in both groups after exercise programThere was a significant reduction of BMI in group (B) , but the results of group (A) indicated non significant changes in BMISo it is recommended to use both resistance and aerobic exercises in order to improve glycemic control in type 2 diabetic patients regardless the reduction in body weight
