The lyli1gene identified by non - random chromosomal translocation t (7 ; 19) (q35 ; p13) associated with T - cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T - ALL) , was mapped to the short arm of chromosome 19 (19p13) by in situ hybridization. LYL1 is required for fetal and adult hematopoietic stem cell function and B - cell differenriation LYL1 may play a very important role in leukemogenesis
