Obesity smoking and estrogen deficiency lead to alterations in lipid and glucose homeostasis. On the other hand estrogen supplementation as well as regular physical exercise training promotes glucose uptake and makes the working skeletal muscles more sensitive to insulin. Our purpose is to study the role of obesity whether due to genetic defects(Zucker rats) or induced by high fat diet exposure to passive smoking
