The invos cerebral oximeter device is a validated tool for measuring cerebral oxygenation , as a balance between cerebral oxygen delivery and uptake or oxygen availabilitythe rso2 value does not show a statistically significant correlation with the standard hemodynamic parameters which are global indicators of peripheral tissue oxygen delivery / consumption balance (lactate , map , svo2 , gcs , pao2 / fio2) the rso2 provides local information regarding oxygen over the frontal lobes at the watershed zone between anterior and middle cerebral arteriesno single , static , rso2 value can be taken as a prognostic indicator , but rather it is the trend of change over time that correlates with prognosis
