This work has been carried out to investigate that : Schistosomes are blood - dwelling flukes that infect 200 million people worldwide and are responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths annually . There is no vaccine available for this disease . This parasite is heavily dependent on energy generated from glucose metabolism
