Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty Of Engineering - Department Of Mathematics and Physics Summary: This thesis a shallow spherical shell with variable thickness resting on Pasternak foundation is studied. The governing differential equations are derived considering large deflection theory and Berger's approach.A clamped edge condition is selected and the solution by series is presented. The normal and radial displacements are obtained ; straining actions are deduced.A parametric study on shallow spherical shells is carried out. Also some approximations are applied to the governing differential equation to get a good approximation and quick solution.
