Interleukin 8 (IL8) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine involved in the cellular response to inflammation, being a poweful chemoattractant for neutrophils. IL-8 is produced by a wide varety of cell types, including monocytes, neutrophils, fibroblasts, and endothelial cells. It serves as a chemical signal that attracts, and therefore is also known as neutrophil chemotactic factor
