Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Institute of Statistical Studies and Research - Department of Computer and Information Science Summary: This thesis introduces a novel method for building relevance judgments without system pooling using subtopic clustering in conjuction with relevance feedback . The new method builds on previously reported methods that use relevance feedback to replace manual interactive query reformulation . The method is shown to be robust in building relevance judgments even in the absence of proper text processing tools and to be consistently better than the previous method upon which it is based
