This work attempts to assess the environmental geochemistry of the sediments at the dam - catchments in the mountains area , UAE About 80 samples were collected during winter 2000 from the catchments of nine dams , namely ; Ham , Seji , Worraia , Shie , Izen , Mannama , Showaieb , Boryrat and Bih The sediments can be considered as stream or alluvium sediments markedly poor in organic content , owing to the arid climate and harsh scarcity of surface water and rare rainfall
