The aim of this work was to study the effect of carnosine on the ischemic rats regarding lipid peroxidation, neurotransmitters (NE and DA) energy substrates and antioxidant system either enzymatic (SOD and GPx) or non enzymatic (GSH) . Carnosine (Ý-alanyl -L- histidine) a well known free radical scavenger which is a naturally occurring dipeptide found in animal and human tissues particularly in muscle and brain
