Expansive soils cause damages to structures due to swelling or shrinking as a response to change in soil moisture . Expansive soil is one of the most costly natural disasters in the world . This disseration presents an investigation of engineering behavior of expansive soils . Unsaturated soil mechanics theoretical approach is considered as a powerful tool for estimation of volume change of expansive soils
