A sequence-based approach is proposed to tackle a 2-D irregular strip packing problem. The approach involves two phases; a placement phase, and an optimization phase. The proposed placement algorithm combines a pixel-based placement procedure with a heuristic compaction routine. A particle swarm optimization meta-heuristic is applied during the optimization phase
