Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Summary: To evaluate the efficacy of local administration of dexamethasone on postoperative complications following lower third molar surgery. 24 patients were divided into two equal groups receiving 4 mg dexamethasone submucosally and intramuscularly into the medial pterygoid muscle respectively immediately after surgery. Although local intramuscular injection effect of dexamethasone was superior to submucosal concerning edema and trismus at the second day after surgery and produce no side effects
