Induction of labor refers to iatrogenic stimulation of uterine contractions to accomplish delivery prior to the onset of spontaneous labor . It is one of the most commonly performed obstetrical procedures in the worldwide (Martin et al., 2003) Between 1990 and 2004 the frequency of labor induction approximately doubled rising from 9.5 to 21% (Deborah et al., 2008)
