Among 300 pigmented isolates only 17 isolates were chosen on basis of their fast growth on ordinary media under simple conditions with intense pigmentation . The methanolic extracts of these isolates were scanned spectrophotometrically from 200 to 1100 nm . The methanolic extracts of two isolates identified as Staphylococcus saprophyticus and Micrococcus agilis showed absorption spectrum closely similar to a standard Ý- carotene and lycopene respectively
