In this thesis we study various subspace techniques for recognition : classical techniques ( Eigenfaces and Fisherfaces ) manifold learning techniques ( Laplacianfaces ) , kernel techniques , two - dimensional techniques ( 2DPCA and B2DPCA ) and others . The ideas and theoretical backround behind them are given and their performance is evaluated
