Charging is one of the most fundamental components of any commercial VoIP service . We analyzed the security of the SIP - based VoIP service charging by demonstrating the charging attacks that were implemented successfully by manipulating the SIP signaling messages and then investigating the different SIP protection mechanisms to prevent the charging attacks
