Dissertation note: Thesis (PH.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty Of Science - Department Of Mathematics Summary: This thesis investigates the relationship between sampling theory of signal analysis and eigen - value problemsOn one hand we derive new sampling theorems associated with boundary value problems and on the other hand we apply the sampling results to approximate the eigenvalues of some eigenvalue problemsThe thesis is divided into three partsIn the rst part we intro - duce some of the known results in sampling theoryWe start this introductory part by stating the famous classical sampling theorem of Whittaker (1915) , Kotel'nikov (1933) and Shannon (1949) This will be found in Chapter 1 where we introduce the associated truncation error studied by Jagerman (1966) as well as the amplitude error established by Butzer et al (1988)
