Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Orthopedic Surgery Summary: Flexor tendons injuries are common, To understand the repair of the flexor tendons we must know the anatomy, biomechanics and healing of the tendons. The strength of flexor tendon repair is directly proportional to the number of strands crossing the repair site. The dilemma in flexor tendon surgery is to perform a repair that uses the least amount of suture material, but that is strong enough to prevent a 2mm gap from forming during postoperative mobilisation protocols
