Although the world now is at the end of the third decade since the first recombinant protein was commercially produced, production of therapeutic proteins by recombinant DNA technology is still very limited in Egypt, especially at industrial scale. Human insulin is a typical example for such recombinant proteins since it represents the essential treatment for all type 1 and a considerable number of type II diabetic patients
