The present thesis is the first study on New Zealand Maori literature and culture in Egyptian universities. it investigates three major novels by three pioneering Maori writers; Keri Hulme`s the bone people ( 1984 ); Patricia Grace`s Potiki ( 1986 ) ; and Witi Ihimaera`s the whale rider ( 1987 ) in an attempt to pinpoint the most distinct narrative techniques peculiar to Maori fiction
