Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Medicine - Department of Clinical and Chemical Pathology Summary: Aplastic anemia, a disease caused by defective hematopoictic stem cells, is characterized by hypocellularity of the bone marrow and pancytopenia. Telomerase is a specialized ribonucleoprotein complex that is responsible for the synthesis and maintenanceof telomere repeats. It is an RNA-dependent DNA polymerase that synthesizes telomere DNA sequences and almost universally provides the molecular basis for unlimited proliferative potential
