Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Electronics and Communication Summary: In this thesis, the basics of EBG structures and the numerical methods for modeling EBGs are reviewed. A quasi-static solution is obtained for reflection coefficient of TM and TE waves for simple EBG structures. The results of the solution are verified with previously published experimental results. New types of EBG structures of smaller cell size and multiband operation are developed
