There is no doubt that it is important to think about the benefits of using biodegradable implants in orthopedic surgery . These implants theoretically eliminate the need for a second operation . Most of the commercially available biodegradable devices now composed of PLLA , PGA . Biodegradable implants are used in orthopedic surgery mostly for fixation of metaphyseal and periarticular fractures where loading is relatively low
