Dissertation note: Thesis (Ph.D.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Mathematics and Physics Summary: In this tsesis , a new method for optimal circuit design using the recently developed semidefinite programming ( SDP ) is introduced . SDP is concerned with choosing a symmetric matrix to optimize a linear function subject to a crucial nonlinear constraint that the matrix be positive semidefinite . The new method for optimal circuit design exploits the gemetric applications for SDP extensions in approximating the feasible region with two bounding ellipsoids
