Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty Of Oral and Dental Medicine - Department Of Dental Materials Summary: In the study ; the experimental work was done on five different implant surfaces of well known materials in dental field to explore their biological impact on periosteal cells (pure titanium , Ti - 6Al - 4V , Fe - Cr - Ni , stainless steel alloy , HA - coating Ti alloy and , brushite - coating Ti - alloy) The surfaces of pure titanium , Ti - 6Al - 4V , and Fe - Cr - Ni (stainless steel) were sand blasted with 30 - 120 æm Alumina particles in reduced atmosphere and then some groups of titanium alloys were coated by sol - gel titanate (TiO3) and silica (SiO2) to improve the adhesive strength of the Ca - P coatingThe sol - gel treated surfaces were electrochemically plated by saturated calcium phosphate solution for brushite [CaPO3 (OH) 2H2O]deposition and HA [Ca5 (PO4) 3OH) ] depositionUsing XRD , SEM , OM , and profilometry , techniques along with measuring the coating thickness , the surface of different implant systems were fully characterized
