The present study explores the effect of processing instruction (PI) and traditional instruction (TI) on the avoidance strategy of the Arab learners of English. This research compares the effect of these two types of exercises on the avoidance of the present perfect by Arab learners of English. The pre and post-tests are in the form of production tasks (translation exercise) to compare the subjects' degree of avoidance of the present perfect before and after the treatment
