Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Pharmacy - Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology Summary: Hepatic fibrosis is a common feature in different types of chronic liver injury. In Egypt, schistosomiasis is the most important endemic snail-borne disease. Periportal fibrosis is the most serious consequence of schistosomal infections. The demonstration of the pro-fibrogenic role of angiotensin (Ang) 11 in chronic liver diseases brought up the idea that anti-Ang II agents may be effective on improvement of hepatic fibrosis by either blocking the Ang II type 1 (AT1) receptor or inhibition of angiotensin converting enzyme ACE
