Dissertation note: Thesis (M.Sc.) - Cairo University - Faculty of Engineering - Department of Electronics and Communication Summary: Periodic structures have renewed applications in microwave engineering especially with the advent of unusual artificial materials such as EBG structures and metamaterials . In this work it is shown that spatial modulation of periodic structures provides a multiband behavior that depends on the amplitude or position modulation function .It is also shown that the spatial modulation of the periodic structure provides a multi-band frequency selective behavior. The number of stop bands babd-widths center frequency depends on the modulation function and type
